FAQS
Is custom stamped concrete landscape borders expensive?
-No. Our custom stamped concrete is very affordable. That's the beauty of curbing; it's inexpensive and makes your property look amazing.
Why should I spend money to have your curbing installed?
-5 Star Borders has a larger selection of patterns and colors than our competitors. We also never charge you extra for color. 5 Star Borders is a custom concrete border company so you always have options.
Do I have to be at home when my curbing is being installed?
-It is not required that you be home while we install.
Do I need to do anything to prepare for your arrival?
-There are a few things that our crew will need in order to complete the job. We will need access to a water source (hose hook-up). You will need to have any and all subterranean objects marked. We are not responsible for contacting the utility department or identifying these objects (e.g. invisible fences, cable lines, sprinkler systems, etc.).
How long does it take to install curbing?
-It depends on how much we are installing, but most jobs are complete in one day.
What if I have outdoor pets?
-We request that you either leave your pet inside during the times of install until the concrete hardens or let a friend or family member look after them. It is extremely important that the concrete remain untouched while it is in the hardening process.
How deep do you dig and how deep is the footing?
-We dig about 2 ½ inches deep by 10 inches wide. This can be done without disturbing your existing planters. There is no footer as the curb is concrete and is its own footing.
What about frost and ground movement?
-The benefit of our concrete curbing is that is a continuous piece of concrete. Individual blocks or bricks will shift over time and in the winter. Our curb is fibermesh reinforced which is designed to take the place of rebar or steel and adds strength to the curb. We place control/expansion joints every 3 feet. This is designed to control the cracking of the curb during shifting periods and colder months. If the curb should crack, it should crack in the expansion joint and not be noticeable.
Will the curbing crack?
-We experience very little cracking however concrete will crack. We take every precaution to limit the cracking and try to control it with expansion joints. If a crack occurs outside of the joint, we will be happy to repair your curbing within the warranty period.
What forms of payments do you accept?
-We accept all forms of payment
